BE RESOURCEFUL...MY MOTHER'S WISDOM: "USE YOUR BRAIN!"

For the creative entrepreneur who keeps making excuses...

This topic of being resourceful has been developing for a while now and I'm so glad to share. I have been writing this on the go and as I live out what I'm about to share. Everything in this blog is from my personal experience and I've seen it work, so bare with me! Years ago the pastor from my old home church preached a word where he said, "EVERYTHING YOU NEED IS ALREADY IN YOUR HANDS!" Something stirred up in my spirit and the light bulb emoji popped up in my head. He then made us open our hands, directing us to look at our hands. Y'all my hands were EMPTY, but I saw so much more than my open "EMPTY" palms. I saw that I had my right mind, I had a computer, a camera, paper/pen, no money YET (LOL) but I had soooooo much faith! I took that word and it is still keeping me till this day. Physically there wasn't anything in my hands, but I knew spiritually there was so much inside of me, so I can certainly make something from nothing. 

MY MOTHER'S WISDOM: USE YOUR BRAIN

BUT FIRST, I had to use my brain! My mom used to say to me "USE YOUR BRAIN GIRL!" with her little Haitian accent and I was like "Mom you are so rude, you don't even get me, UGH WTH I am using my brain!" Young minded Felicite was thinking she's so discouraging and saying that doesn't help me. As we grow older, a little wiser of course, that's when we see okay! Moms always know best. That word/seed she was planting lead me to being able to make something from nothing. I saw myself being able to do and figure things out so easily, naturally. I would sit alone be on my computer like a little geek squad and make logos, videos, really ugly flyers, edit photos and even built myself a crusty website! LOL I didn't know what I was doing, but I STARTED. I had to create something. I can talk about this because I've experienced living in the mentality of "I don't have this or I don't have that, so I can't." I get it, but I also figured out a way to get out and thats why we're here now. If my mother didn't plant the seed years ago telling me to USE MY BRAIN, I wouldn't have created my own little website, I wouldn't have the knowledge that is leading me to keep up this current site/blog.  

WHY ARE WE NOT USING OUR HEAD? T.D. JAKES INTERVIEW w/ Steven Furtick

Perfect timing! As I'm writing, I'm listening to this interview (click link above) and T.D. Jakes reiterated exactly what I'm trying to explain. He talks about how God gave us a brain. "Your brain is your defense! -- the problem with people is that we think God made furniture, God says I don't do that... I make trees!" JEESH, he went in! You've got to watch the whole thing if you need to start something today. It's simple, start with what you have. USE YOUR BRAIN!

Here are a few of my creative life hacks! 

1. My iPhone: for a while I was just using this to create graphics, photos and writing in my notes. I can use apps like CANVA, VSCO CAM for editing and so much more. Everything you need is in the App Store fam. I CREATE A LOT OF CONTENT ON PHONE. There's also YouTube, I faithfully watch my YT Mentor @MAYASWORLD for all my tech tips. She is the queen of resourcefulness! 

2. I didn't have a tripod for my iphone when I created my first vlog, but I had the tripod for my camera. Before that, I lost my tripod at TSA SMH, but I wasn't tripping. I took the Velcro hanging strips, placed it onto my mirror/camera tripod, placed the other sticky side on my phone screen and VOILA! Fake tripod lol I was able to create fast time-lapse videos for my Insta story & first video log on Youtube. 

3. Y'all gonna laugh, but I seriously can't be buying things all day. A girl gotta make it work and I'm too old for a Christmas list. HA! I wanted a laptop stand for when I'm doing work in bed...Took an old shoe box and BAM it's working just like the one I wanted. Helps to not get too cozy/fall asleep if Im doing work in bed. 

4. I'm always on the go and sometimes don't have my laptop to finish these blogs, so I downloaded the SquareSpace Blog App. There's no excuse as to why I can't get these done now.
